This set of Scottish small pipes is made in African blackwood with boxwood ferrules and brass trim. There are three chanters, each with an interchangeable stock, and four drones. The chanters are pitched in A, Bb and C with two drones in C and two Bb each set an octave apart (cC and bB).
Sets with this combination of chanters and drones is currently (Nov. 2010) priced at £2,100 ($3,390 US at current exchange rates) on Hamish Moore’s web site. With the spare reeds and deluxe carrying case, the value of this instrument is estimated at $4,000.
