This set of Northumbrian small pipes was made by D. Burleigh, serial number 2290, with an eleven key chanter and four drones each of which has a tuning bead with the exception of the large “G” drone which has two tuning beads i.e. complicated drones as described on Burleigh’s web site. The bellows are also by D. Burleigh. The set is made in African blackwood with brass keys and artificial ivory ferules. The chanter reed was made by Ann Sessoms. The drone reeds are brass body/cane tongue composite. The set is in good second-hand condition.

Sets of this type are currently (Nov. 2010) advertised on Dave Burleigh’s web site for sale at £800 (eight hundred pounds sterling) or approximately $1,300 US at current exchange rates.
